AI Voice Agents for EU Businesses
Since 2 August 2026, an AI system that talks to people has to say so. AI Placers was built to disclose from day one — and to answer every call in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch or Polish, with your data staying in the EU.
What is AI Placers?
AI Placers is a GDPR-compliant 24/7 AI voice agent for businesses in the European Union. It answers inbound calls in 24 EU languages, discloses that it is an AI system as required by EU AI Act Article 50, books appointments into your calendar, and escalates complex calls to staff. Pricing is outcome-based — you pay per booked job, not per minute — starting at USD $199/month for up to 25 booked jobs.

EU AI Act & GDPR, Handled Properly
Two regimes now apply to an AI voice agent in Europe: the AI Act's transparency duties, live since 2 August 2026, and the GDPR obligations you already know. Here is what applies and what we do.
| Rule | What it requires | What AI Placers does |
|---|---|---|
| EU AI Act Article 50(1) — live since 2 August 2026 | Providers of AI systems that interact directly with people must ensure those people are informed they are talking to an AI, unless it's obvious from the circumstances. This duty was deliberately left out of the Digital Omnibus deferral that pushed high-risk timelines to December 2027 — it applied on schedule. | Disclosure ships on by default: the agent states it's an AI assistant, and always answers honestly when asked. Configurable wording, not removable. |
| EU AI Act Article 50(2) — synthetic content marking | Machine-readable marking of AI-generated content. Systems already on the EU market before 2 August 2026 have a transitional period to 2 December 2026; anything placed after that date complies immediately. | Generated audio is marked; no transitional reliance needed. |
| GDPR — lawful basis & data subject rights | Call recordings and caller details are personal data. You need a lawful basis, a record of processing, and a route for access and erasure requests. | Data Processing Agreement with SCCs where relevant, records of processing available, and access/erasure handled on request. |
| EU data residency | Many European buyers require processing to stay within the EU. | EU data residency available; data managed in-house, never shared with third parties or used to train outside models. |
| ePrivacy & call recording consent | Recording consent rules vary by member state — some require all-party consent, some one-party. | Per-country recording notice and consent configuration, set at the number level rather than globally. |
| Health & special category data | Article 9 data carries stricter conditions for clinics and practices. | Encryption in transit and at rest; Enterprise includes a dedicated Data Protection Officer for GDPR compliance. |

What It Replaces
The honest comparison, including what each option cannot do.
| Option | Cost | Coverage | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full-time receptionist | €32,000–€48,000/yr + employer contributions | One shift, one language | Notice periods, works councils, holiday cover |
| External call centre | Per-seat or per-minute | Script-bound, limited languages | Sub-processor adds a GDPR hop |
| Voicemail | €0 | Loses the caller | Fails the AI Act question entirely — because nobody answers |
| AI Placers | From USD $199/mo | Every call, 24 languages, in parallel | Books, qualifies, escalates, discloses, logs |
Priced in USD; billed to EU customers at prevailing rates, VAT handled per member state. Telephony (Twilio / Telnyx), custom voices and knowledge-base costs are billed separately. See full pricing.
Across the Single Market
Local number support in major EU markets, and an agent that speaks the language the caller dials in.
Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Milan, Dublin, Warsaw, Vienna, Lisbon, Stockholm — CET, EET and WET, answered simultaneously.
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions the European Union buyers actually ask before they sign.
Does the EU AI Act require our AI phone agent to say it's an AI?+
Yes. Article 50(1) of the EU AI Act requires that people interacting directly with an AI system are informed of that fact, unless it's obvious from the circumstances. The obligation has applied since 2 August 2026 — it was specifically excluded from the Digital Omnibus package that deferred high-risk system timelines to December 2027. AI Placers ships disclosure on by default and the agent always answers honestly when a caller asks.
Is AI Placers GDPR compliant?+
Yes. We provide a Data Processing Agreement, encrypt data in transit and at rest, manage it in-house, never share it with third parties or use it to train outside models, and support access and erasure requests. Enterprise includes a dedicated Data Protection Officer.
Can our data stay inside the EU?+
Yes — EU data residency is available, which is usually the deciding factor in European procurement and public-sector reviews.
Which languages does it handle?+
50+ in total, covering all 24 EU official languages, with German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish and Danish among the most used. It detects the caller's language and can switch mid-call.
What about call recording consent — it's different in every country?+
It is. Some member states require all-party consent, some one-party. Recording notice and consent behaviour is configured per number, so a German line and an Irish line can behave differently under one account.
Do we need to do a DPIA?+
Often yes, particularly for clinics and anyone processing Article 9 health data. We supply the processing detail, sub-processor list and security documentation your DPIA needs; the assessment itself stays your responsibility.
Is it suitable for a medical practice?+
Yes. Special category health data gets encryption in transit and at rest, a DPA, and — on Enterprise — a dedicated DPO. Booking integrates with your practice management system.
How much does it cost?+
Pricing is outcome-based: you pay per booked job, not per minute. It starts at USD $199/month for up to 25 booked jobs — $7.96 per booked job at the top of that band — and the effective rate falls to $3.30 per booked job at the highest volume band. Minutes and seats are unlimited on every band, and there is no setup fee. VAT is handled per member state.
How fast can we go live?+
No-code setup, usually live within the week. It starts with a free two-week proof-of-concept, no credit card required, during which we size the right volume band with you.
What happens when the AI can't handle a call?+
It warm-transfers to a human using rules you set, and files a transcript and summary either way.
