AI receptionist for plumbers
The call you miss at 9pm is someone else's job by 9:15. Plumbing is the trade where the person best placed to answer the phone is the person already under a sink with both hands wet.
From $199/month. Billed per booked job. Two weeks free on your own number.
An AI receptionist for plumbers answers every call, day or night, works out whether it is a true emergency or a routine booking, quotes your call-out fee to price-shoppers, and books jobs straight into your calendar. During a freeze it takes ten callers at once instead of sending nine to voicemail.
What actually rings
- Burst pipes, leaks through ceilings and no water, usually out of hours and usually urgent.
- Blocked drains and no hot water, which are urgent to the caller and schedulable to you.
- Price-shoppers ringing four plumbers to compare a call-out fee.
- Quotes for planned work: a bathroom, a boiler swap, a repipe.
- Existing customers chasing an ETA on a job already booked.
What to set up before it is useful
- Your call-out fee and when it applies, so the agent quotes it instead of booking a tyre-kicker at 11pm.
- What counts as an emergency for you. Water actively escaping usually does; a dripping tap does not.
- Who is on call, and the number to page when the agent decides it is a genuine emergency.
- Your service area by postcode or ZIP, so travel time is realistic.
Where it falls down
- It cannot look at a photo of the leak and tell you which part to put on the van.
- Mobile reception from a plant room or a basement is often poor, and that hurts recognition more than anything else.
- A caller who is panicking and shouting is the hardest case, and the honest answer is that a person handles it better.
Questions plumbers ask
Can it tell an emergency from a routine job?
On the rules you give it. The useful split is whether water is escaping right now. The agent asks, and if the answer is yes it pages whoever is on call rather than offering a slot on Thursday.
Will it quote prices?
It quotes your call-out fee and any fixed prices you load. It will not estimate a repipe over the phone, because neither would you.
What happens during a freeze when every line rings at once?
All of them get answered. Concurrent calls are the one thing a human front desk cannot match, and a cold snap is exactly when the calls arrive in a block.
Does it work for a one-van operation?
That is the case it fits best, because there is no front desk at all. Every call currently either interrupts the job or goes to voicemail.
By city
Licensing, seasonal call patterns and what counts as an emergency differ by market.
